The Oklahoma City Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. hosted its inaugural STEM Fair.

 

The Jack and Jill OKC Excel and Explore STEM Fair will bring various professionals from the scientific industry,engineers, computer scientists, healthcare fields and mathematicians together for a day of fun and learning for people of all ages.

The Fair was held on Saturday, March 30th, 2019 at the Langston University – OKC campus. The address is 6700 N. Martin Luther King, Blvd. OKC OK 73111. The event runs from 10:00 am – 2:00 p.m. A variety of workshops are available to attendees of all ages, from robotics demonstrations, fun with chemistry, aviation, IT, a math escape room and how to start applying to college. Participants spoke with professionals in various careers and ask questions. Parents also left with increased to knowledge and how to support their child through their journey into a STEM career.

The goal of the Explore STEM fair is for every attendee to be exposed to a different side of Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. “It’s a hands-on fun way for children to learn. As adults, we stress the importance of education but we forget to remind children that learning can be and is fun.”Says STEM Fair coordinator Jihan Abdul-Haqq, MD.
